POST-CRASH ACTION PLAN

What to Do After a Car Accident in Wichita
A car accident can leave you shaken up fast. Even a crash that looks small at first can lead to pain, missed work, repair bills, and stress with the insurance company. Know the steps that protect your health, your claim, and your peace of mind.
Get to Safety and Call 911
If you can move safely, get out of traffic and call 911. If anyone is hurt, ask for medical help right away.
Get Medical Care
Not every injury shows up right away. Pain, headache, dizziness, numbness, or trouble moving — get checked by a doctor. Early treatment helps recovery and creates a record.
Take Photos and Gather Information
Photograph both vehicles, damage, the road, traffic signs, skid marks, debris, and visible injuries. Get driver names, phone numbers, insurance info, plates, and witness contacts.
Report the Crash Carefully
Stick to the facts. Don't guess about fault. Don't say you're fine if you're still in pain. Keep notes about every call, email, and message.
Watch the First Few Days Closely
Pain may get worse. Track pain levels, doctor visits, medicines, time missed from work, sleep, and daily activities.
Know That Accident Risks Are Still Serious
U.S. traffic deaths fell 6.7% from 2024 to 2025 (NHTSA), but crashes still cause serious injuries and deaths every year.
Be Extra Careful if a Truck or Company Vehicle Was Involved
These claims may involve company records, higher insurance limits, and extra safety rules — and may require faster investigation.
Get Help If the Accident Was Serious
Major injuries, missed work, disputed fault, insurance pressure, a commercial vehicle, or a fatal crash — the more serious the case, the more important early legal answers become.
